Best way to search for reward seats??

Hi Everyone!!

I get so confused over the class system.. If I want to book and pay for PE and then use miles to get in to UC is it best to search for UC reward seats first of look at the PE class for cash..

Whats the best advice on the most efficient way to search for deals?

The best way is to do a dummy booking to see if UC seats are available. If they were I personally would call VS to get a price quote especially as they will hold on to the reservation for 48 hours if you so request

You mean ANY UC fare or one in a particular class, does that matter?

First you need to search for reward Upper Class flights i.e. click the 'spend miles' option when booking online.

Don't worry if you don't have enough miles as the website will still show you any availability.

Next, use this page (you may need to log into your online Flying Club account first to access this page) to check for Premium Economy miles upgradeable fares (S or W class, S will be cheaper) on the same route/date you want.

To upgrade from PE to UC you need to get a fare in the W/S buckets - use the search James linked too.

But there also needs to be availability in the G (reward) bucket too - which is the search HoneyLamb suggested. Select the 'spend miles' option (just under where you select destination/dates)

You can do both of these yourself but you will need to phone VS to do the PE to UC upgrade as you can't do this bit online. You will have to pay the difference in the fuel surcharges between PE and UC but the APD and airport fees will be the same.

The easiest way is to phone them. If the person you speak to doesn't seem to understand what you want, call back and try another agent. Since you have to phone them to do the upgrade bit, you might as well do it all on the phone.
