I've flown a few other airlines in Biz class lately and notice they do much better on the amenity kits: Emirates loads you up with Bulgari products, BA throw in some Elemis, and United used H2O from the US. Virgin provides....some toothpaste. I remember lip balm and moisturizer, where did it go and how can that be chalked up to cost if other airlines are offering at same price flights?

I sense a big gap in service here - ok to cut in flight massages, I get it, but don't skip on skin health while you're also promoting overall in-flight body health.

Female travelers - you with me on this?

Frankly I'd settle for a pen in UC. They can keep the rest, it just clutters up my bathroom cabinet alongside all those Molton Brown freebies they give you in their shops.

Well, that's a male perspective anyway!

At least I managed to get a couple of the salt and pepper pots before they vanished too...

In Business on Singapore Airlines you get a teeny-tiny tube of toothpaste, smaller than the ones in Vs amenity kits and you have to look for them in the bathroom. There is hand lotion in containers in the toilets but I'm not aware of any other toiletries such as face cream

For me, I think VS has it right not to load amenity kits stuffed full of items, to often I have seen how little they are used and overall, it's just wasteful.

However, I believe that the bowls of extras were a very good idea, people took what they wanted or thought they needed, and it reduced needless waste. I'd like to see those back ... we can debate the quality, but I thought it was a great approach.

Amazing how useful our shoebags have proved to be.

When we first started travelling to the US back in 1998 we always asked for the paired seats at the rear of the 747, and so when exiting the aircraft you could see how much from the (granted economy) amenity kits was just abandoned. On subsequent trips we would pick stuff up on the way through to pass on to a friend who was running a women's refuge in LA.
