SFO and LAS your help appreciated

Secured two reward returns in UC to SFO early next year so sorting out logistics and was looking for some suggestions from you good people on three things
1. Could anyone suggest a good, reliable and reasonable car company to book transfers from SFO into the city
2. I have booked a room in the Four Seasons any experience of this hotel versus the StRegis?
3. We are going to LAS for the last 4 nights on a VX flight that the premier team linked to our VS flight ( excellent service from the call centre by the way ) my question should I book the Bellagio or the Four Seasons in LAS?

Any help from you seasoned travellers would be appreciated and I promise I will post trip reports!

Well the Bellagio is centre Strip whilst the Four Seasons is right at the southern end of the Strip so it all depends on whether you want to be in the middle of all the action or not.

1. Cabs are plentiful - unless lots of pax/ luggage I wouldn't bother with a car service.
2. Can't help - my favourite hotel is The Palace (yes I'm old ).
3. Personally, I don't like the Bellagio (too many gawping tourists and up themselves staff ). Getting to the pool area is like running the gauntlet ! . The Four Seasons is a looooong way from the action but good on customer service. I've been to LAS x3 in the last year, the last being 6 weeks ago and when I stayed at the Palazzo (and I and didn't rate that highly either).

Whilst not cheap, I have always used Virgin Limos - these are the folks that do the CDC in SFO

As far as Las Vegas goes, I remain a big fan of the Bellagio (provided you can get a view of the fountains), but I am sure you will find us V-Flyers equally split

On the LAS elements of your trip -No real need for to use a car service (though did on my first ever trip to LAS) as cabs are in good numbers and haved stayed at the Bellagio a couple of times - I really like it but I know many don't as it is huge. Though I can recommend the Sunday brunch with free flowing bubbles!!

LAS is buzzing with hotel deals, the Bellagio is pretty central so a good base but is surrounded by other great hotels...so it will come down to personal choice and needs.

We used Pleasant Limo for our recent transport needs in San Fran. Sorry, l am pretty useless with links , but if you google they have a website.
They are a family run company, very efficient with spacious town cars.
Just email them and they will quote, very reasonable and you wont get charged until they deliver.

We stayed at the Palazzo in LAS, but having explored the Bellagio would most certainly stay there next time, it's centre strip so a good location for getting around.

On the transfer, depends on how many and how much luggage.

Supershuttle can be good value but not always the quickest.

I would personally recommend the Wicked Spoon buffet at the Cosmopolitan as the best in Vegas. I wasn't impressed with either of the champagne brunches at the Wynn and the Bellagio yet was gob smacked with the quality of the food at the Cosmopolitan - especially the desserts!!!

Car wise I recomend carmel limo

Fare will be approx $ 60 plus tip (not sure if any tolls to add on)

But as Dragonlady there are plenty of taxis and shuttle buses.

If you are not overlyladed with luggage you can be downtown (union sqaare area - powell station) in about 30 minutes if you use the BART and that costs about $ 8

and don't dismiss City Center hotels.

Vdara is non-gaming and non-smoking. Very quiet but close enough to the strip to walk it.

Also be aware of the outrageous $22 a night Resort Fee at all the MGM group hotels. xx(

Yes, watch out for resort fees, which is a recent thing in Vegas (I read as recent as 2 years ago).

I'll give a different view, most seem to favour the Bellagio or the big hotels, but I stayed at the Bellagio and it was kind of wasted on me. The actual rooms are little different across the hotels at a standard level in Vegas, you are often paying for the posh shops and restaurants in the casino area, none of which I was interested in. The Bellagio has such a big entrance it sometimes takes about 4-5 minutes to get to the actual strip.

We stay (and will stay next time) at the Imperial Palace. I can imagine a number of scoffs here, but frankly the hotel room itself is no different from the likes of a Bellagio standard room, it has no resort fee, and is dirt cheap. I am talking about 1/3 of the price of one of the MGMs/Ballys and like 1/5th of a Bellagio. Its also slap bang in the busiests part of the central strip, the Harrahs/Flamingo hotels. Its cheaper than a lot of the hotels in the old town too...

If its bigger rooms sure, the other hotels will charge you for some bigger suites and those will _cost_. Perhaps some of the upgraded rooms in the larger hotel will be great if got for free.

I'm sure first time you'll go for a biggie, but thats the way we currently do it...

A cab from SFO to the city centre is around $35 plus tip, a car service from $70 to $120 plus tip. So that simply depends on what you want (slightly more comfort vs taxi convenience). Personally, I always take a cab at SFO since they're reasonable and tend to have drivers who know where San Francisco is, with cars that are OK to sit in.

Can't comment of FS LAS, but do like the Bellagio, yes the Dear Lady Dragon makes good points but I prefer the centrality, the choice of dining, rooms overlooking the fountains, Paris, and the strip etc. The only downside of these mega hotels for me is the amount of time it takes to DO anything, if you're on the 20th floor and want to go for a walk, it's 15 -20 minutes to get stripside if you see what I mean ...

I really do like the Four Seasons in Vegas, the standard rooms are nothing to write home about, but the private pool area is very nice and service is great.

The resort fee's started in 2007, Harrah's properties do not charge a resort fee.

We liked the New York New York in Vegas. Quite cheap and not massive such that it takes about an hour to get outside. Also free rides on the roller coaster
