FC Renewal

My FC Au membership expires 30th April. So under curent rules I need 30 TP to renew. I currently have 43.

I just called the FC helpline and got through to Swansea as I wanted to verify my renewal date as I have some leisure flights to book and want to get them in after the renewal to count against the next years renewal.

The person I spoke to told me since I have already reached renewal I won't lose *all* points at 30th April. Those above my renewal level within the previous 12 months of 30th April will carry forward and count to the next renewal. I queried that as I always thought once you'd renewed you lost any TPs between that point and renewal date, as you were effectveily zeroed at that point and had to start again. He said definitely not - any flights between now & 30th April WILL count towards next renewal.

Is this a change?

If it is a change, it's a good one!

However, I expect it may be incorrect. You could always save the name and extension number to refer back to?

I'd call the AU FC line to try and speak to some at Crawley to double check.

Called the Au FC line - he was less sure but didn't say what I was told was wrong, as he said he knew that this is being discussed - to provide some degree of roll over.

I don't think this is correct information otherwise it would mean that if you earned 80 TP in one year you would not need to requalify for 2 years.
All the airline FF I have been part of had an earning period and then was re-set to zero at a certain date.

I would be amazed if you can roll them over to a new year. That would be as baffling as the reduction in miles for upgrades.

I think JCBR is right. When I wrote to Flying Club last June, I got this reply:

"Having checked your Flying Club account, it's indicated that your Gold membership renewal period started from 1st June 2010 and is up to 30th June 2011. I notice that you have already qualified for your next Gold renewal. However if you earn any extra tier points before 30th June 2011, they will just drop off and will not be carried forward towards your next renewal period."

My understanding is that you will need 40 TP to maintain gold.
I am assuming you retained gold in April 2011 (ie. before 'the changes') so you needed 30TP to renew. But on your next renewal don't you need 40tp ?

Having re-read the web details I am non the wiser

that clearly says you need 15 TP to maintaian gold. But then totally confuses everyone by mentioning 30TP and 40TP.

my FC page says

If your tier membership year ends on or before 31 August 2012, you will require 30 tier points to retain gold membership or 10 tier points to retain silver membership.
If your tier membership year ends on or after 01 September 2012, you will require 40 tier points to retain gold membership or 15 tier points to retain silver membership

Is this a change?

looks like thats another mistake on the website, the 15 points to renew should be for silver
