With BMI being swallowed up by IAG/BA, Virgin (and *A overall) will soon lose the remaining feed from the UK regions.
Going by the assumption that IAG will have to surrender some LHR slots, would it not be a good idea for VS to acquire enough to launch their own hub-feeding services? For instance, they could launch LHR-GLA/EDI/ABZ/MAN/BHD/NCL etc using A319 aircraft, and call the operation something like "Virgin Connect".
In turn, VS will once again be able to feed their LHR flights from the regions, and Star Alliance carriers would also receive feed. Consequently, VS would join Star Alliance.
So what do you think v-flyers...an idea which would never take-off, or an idea which could become a reality and soar?! If you'll excuse the poor puns! :#
