Just wondered why VA insist on staying a saturday night.

If I go midweek it costs £1900 return where as if I include a saturday night for the same duration of stay it drops to £690.

My guess is that it frees up more availability for business travellers during the week, but I maybe wrong?

Any suggestions?

The wiki page on the saturday night stay rule

Those weekday fares are also at the higher fare bucket rates too to allow flexibility of changes for business men (oh yes and women too!).

I for one am not complaining about the rule as I tend to travel out Thursday and back the following Tuesday / Wednesday so it means better value flights for me !

It isn't a Virgin Atlantic rule, it is an airline rule.

Only the LCCs, who price their flights one way, don't insist on it. I have always considered it a minor inconvenience, rather then something to get too worked up about.

if flying midweek without a Saturday night stay included, I usually book through Expedia/Ebookers, along with one night stay in the cheapest accommodation available. Then dont bother using the hotel.
