I'm flying PE to Cuba later this year on a M+M fare and have enquired on the cost to upgrade especially for the return flight. I've been quoted £400 for the return plus some miles and can't decide what to do but thinking for the bed it's worth it. Help, what's everyone's thoughts? ?|

Is a price for an upgrade a good one?

The is a perennial question with a simple answer - if you think it is a good price, then it is.

£400 plus miles for a one way upgrade would have some people jumping for the credit card, and others s saying "you are joking, I can buy a lot of things for £400" 8D

Both points of view are perfectly valid.

I don't know what the lounge is like in Cuba, (but it isn't a Clubhouse) and there isn't a Revivals lounge at LGW, so in my view you are paying for a nicer meal before you go to sleep and a flat seat to get your head down in. Is it worth it? - Your call! :D

Having flown PE and UC I would say as above...it's your call but you need to think about what you are getting for the money.

To me part of the UC experience is the lounge at LHR which is a fabulous luxurious experience. The actual inflight experience in my view is better but not so much better that it justifys a significant additional cost.

Life is short, if you arent going to miss the £400 I would definetly upgrade. The shared lounge in Cuba is pretty basis but still better than the general departure lounge.

Go for it !!!

Only you can decide if the price you have bee quoted is good to you and value for your money. If it was me, I'd probably go for it, but that's because I prefer to fly UC :-)

The Shared lounge in Cuba, is no Clubhouse, but it is somewhere away from the crowds and you get drink and snacks, was sandwiches and crisps when I was in there a few years ago.

If you feel the cost is worth it, then go for it and treat yourself.

I didn't think to general departure lounge too bad in Cuba, apart from the cigarette smoke.

Another way of looking at it is that if you've budgeted in the £400 for your holiday what else are you going to spend it on in Cuba? There are only so many bottles of rum and cigars you can bring back, Michelin starred restaurants are in short supply, taxis are cheap and high end consumer goods non existent.

But then again £400 would cover a weekend in the Cotswolds....

Do it. I did PE to Cuba and back last year. I think £400 is a fair price. I would have liked the chance to lie flat on the way home. The general departure lounge is chocca with nothing to do, so having the chance for a quieter area is an additional bonus.
