Any way to check available seats before booking?

I don't have expert flyer (only tank 2/3 trips a year), but is there any way to check Virgin seat availability before booking? (any booking engines allow you to see seat map before purchase?)

I believe Orbitz.com show a seat map before booking, though when I have compared it, it's not 100% accurate, but very close.

flightstats.com will give you free load checks.
