Has anyone got any experience of these recently? What sort of things do they include (LHR-LAX and LAX-LHR)? Do they also get a different afternoon tea and breakfast? Not too junky?

I have only seen a VS kids economy meal and that looked very junky (chicken nuggets, chips, sweets, chocolate and crisps - or along those lines :( ). Jnr had a BA CW kids meal in Feb and it was excellent: well he actually got full up on the starter tray and we had to turn the hot entree down - lots of fruit and more healthy things.

Also, is there flexibility when this is served (like, supposedly, other UC food)? I expect Jnr to be having his afternoon nap when lunch is served on the outbound...

Thanks
Boo

After all the stick you gave me when I asked about pre-ordered kosher meals in UC when I didn't like the new menu at the time I cannot believe you are asking this :D

Take your own food from M&S. :P y) ;)

Read up on the new UC service. The main meal is not flexible anymore, you either have it or you don't. They may be more lenient with rules for kids but who knows?

Errrr, how can I know if it is suitable until I know vaguely what it is? :?

You couldn't find anything you liked in an UC menu (as an adult) despite knowing the menu in advance and having a number of choices for each course.. :P :D

I would love to know what sort of things are included in a toddler meal so that - funnily enough - I can make provision if not suitable. ;)

No "freedom to order what you want when you want" anymore? That is a shame :(

As soon I have found out what is available for children and discounted all 3 options of child meal available as being completely rubbish and requested the details of the child's kosher meal, then you might have a point :D

(obviously I realise that there is only one child's meal and no child's kosher meal either)

Its been a couple of years since we have had kids meals in UC, and it was fairly junky. Chicken nuggets outbound and pasta (spag bol) inbound.
I agree the BA NCW was much better!

Sorry do not have an up to date experience. Check out a recent Tr by the good Dr Vipond :) Im sure Tizer had the dults meal from recollection.

I can recommend some nice protein bars if you get desperate y)

Oh and BTW, the food MAN-LAS & back in UC a couple of weeks ago was still rubbish :$

Through our experience if you have booked a childs meal all they do is unpack a normal kids meal and present it on plates! Virgin don't have specific childrens meals they just use the usual kids meals. We have stopped ordering kids meals as they aren't great and they can pretty much eat the adult selection anyway.

Thank you very much for your replies y)

I would normally just plump for an adult meal for him and get him the pasta (since he loves pasta), but am worried about the walnuts the current pasta on the menu: Jnr is 2 and a 1/4 and hasn't had nuts yet (apart from smooth peanut butter). He tends to wolf his food - so I don't fancy choking at 38,000ft... :w

Without a full set of milk teeth, an airline steak might be a bit chewy and he hasn't had a lot od spicy food yet.

Daywalker, did you ever find out what that kosher meal was? :D

I will look into things a bit further and - if all else fails - go for the kids meal and see what turns up. We can cobble things together (and he is a BIG bread and fruit fan) and take plenty of snacks with us anyway - so he wont starve ;)

I didn't Boo Boo, I'm still curious, I might just order one for the sake of it in July :D I've always got a stash of protein bars to fall back on.

Good luck in getting the young one sorted out though y)
