Rumor has it that only PE is being refurbed

Reading trip advisor today, one of the posters states that he's been in contact with VA and was told that only PE in the LGW/MAN fleet are being refurbed.

Does anyone know if there is any substance to this?

Trip advisor, I hate that site. I see so many blatant inaccuracies on there as well as the likes of Skytrax. LGW economy and Premium refits are happening as we speak.the details of the new economy seating have been released internally.

Isn't the Y seat the one that is currently installed on the new A330's, so not really a new product, just the latest seats and IFE being installed in Y and PE.

We already know UC is only getting new IFE and a deep clean, not the new UCS.

It looked to me from the promotional video that they are taking out Economy too, so no suprise that a lot of Trip Advisor people shouldn't be advising on any trips.

And whilst the UC cabins won't get the new suite they are still beign 'refreshed' and will have the new IFE installed.

As to trip advisor - always best to take anything posted on there with a pinch of salt.

Are they the ones that are on the A330's or a slightly different version?

The guy from trip advisor has now quoted an email from Viring

I can quote from Virgins e mail to me dated 30th April ,word for word. I have added the upper case lettering to emphasis the point!.....

" I appreciate that you wish to travel on the refurbished 747-400 Aircraft in September. However, currently only the Premium Economy cabins of these aircraft are being refurbished. WE ARE NOT yet able to determine when we are likely to be able to commence the programmed refurbishment of our Economy cabins"

make of that what you will...

Personally, I find the information from people on here to be more accurate than VS employees themselves. I bet if you called 10 times, you would get a different answer at least 8 times!

Quite impressive really, so they back section of the plane will still be on Nova/Odessey?

It will be a different Economy seat to the A330.

Can anyone who is unsure of whether they are replacing the Economy seats please watch this video of the Economy seats being stripped and removed from the plane.

Economy is definitely being refurbished as well

The quote under the YouTube video says:

"Once the decorating is finished, passengers travelling to holiday destinations including Orlando, the Caribbean and Las Vegas will be the first to see the newly decorated planes which will have a fresh vibrant feel and include a new inflight entertainment system and new seats in Economy and Premium Economy."

Although the ThisIsVirginAtlantic copywriter has an unusual vocabulary and seems to be missing the word "refurbishment". It sounds more like a man with a tin of paint and a step ladder

It will be a different seat to the A330. I believe it's the same Y seat as Virgin America.

So all leather then? Not bad for Y...

It'll will be fabric but the same seat model as Virgin America but in Atlantic colour scheme.
