best economy seat VS001 3 June LHR to EWR?

hello to all the friendly travellers on here
I am travelling with my daughter to EWR soon and wanted some seat advice. last time I did this route I paid extra for the exit seats. The configuration shows economy seats on the upper deck - how do you get to book these and are they a good place to sit?

You can request them through the My Booking page on the VS website although those seats are usually greyed out until nearer the date of the flight
