So,

I signed up to the mileage bonus (May/June travel)

By the end of next week, I'll have had 3 "bonuses" of 15,000 miles (so, 45k "free" miles) for trips already booked. Great, in my book - BUT....

Does it work for VS? The only people I know who have benefited from it (including myself) already had their trips planned. So, if it was an effort to get *new* bookings, I don't see where they came from - especially given the timescales (register by end of April, travel by mid-June).

Did the bonus convince anyone on here to book a trip with VS that they otherwise wouldn't have...?

In a way, it encouraged me to book my recent trip to California. I had wanted to go at some point but had been dithering until I found that there was a cheaper fare around that time and the clincher for me was that I would get 20k bonus miles if I went at the time I did. So while it may not have been the only reason, it certainly influenced my decision.

Good question - by next week I will have had the bonuses from 7 sectors; all would have been booked regardless. Extra miles are very welcome though!

There was some talk about it being an incentive for people to register their accounts online, so perhaps that was the point.

Well, there is more than one way to give a bonus and rewarding loyal customers who may well already have booked their flights, as well as luring new customers is legit in my book. However, I'd agree that while it hasn't made me book more, it has been most welcome.

Second that... I've benefitted twice, but only from trips already booked. The only thing it made me think about was whether I could bring forward my HK trip to be within the bonus period (and I couldn't, going out on the 23rd... Grrr), but again that was travel that I had planned anyway.

So welcome for me, yes, but didn't really bring VS any benefit.
