1. how far in advance do you know which plane will be used?
2. am i right in thinking the bubble is a better place to sit as regards prem ec?
3.where is the best seats in prem ec?i have seen a list but as i am not sure which plane is yet to be used
4. after this trip i will have enough miles for me n the misses to upgrade on our next trip from prem to upper class now my query is that if we book a long time in advance and in the meantime someone wants to buy a upper class seat would they throw us back to prem ec?

Hi and welcome to V-Flyer

As the Vegas route is operated by the LGW / MAN fleet, with the current refurb programme underway, you will not know that actual plane until the day. Hence why it is not currently possible to make Seat Requests for Premium Economy.

On the basis that you have a 747 that has yet to be refurbished, then the consensus of opinion here on V-Flyer is the bubble (70 - 79) offer the best seating. Again, you will see that it would appear the VS are assigning seats at OLCI with little chance of you changing them once they have been assigned to you.

As regard to getting an upgrade with miles, this first depends on their being availability, but once you have used your miles to upgrade (and paid the extra in taxes) then you are confirmed in the seat just as you would be having paid the full wack

Remember that you will need to have a ticket in the right PE fare bucket - a W or S rather than the usual (cheaper) K.

One thing to bear in mind about UC on the LAS route is that there are only 14 UC seats and VS will try and sell them all for cash rather than miles. Thats not to say reward seats aren't available just that they might be hard to find and especially at busy times like school holidays.

Welcome to V-flyer, we're generally a happy and friendly crowd and it wouldn't hurt to say hello, and please when posting for the first time ...

To answer one of your questions, VS like most airlines does not share which aircraft is rostered for which route for security reasons, so you'll never really know until you're onboard.

WRT your last question, if you're heading back to Vegas (and I agree, once bitten, you do need a top up fix from time to time) then look at flying through LAX and connecting - with two flights a day and c. 90 UC seats compared to 14, you can be luckier in getting that upgrade. But, beware, once your wife has turned left the first time, there may be no going back :0 .
