Justa quick question. I have now fallen back from Gold to red as living in Spain it's not always convient to use VS. However I take my family on annual holidays an this year I bought Seven UC and one PE ticket to MBJ. That would obviously had given me 76 tier points had I have bought them in my own name. Now my kids can't afford to fly VS again and could gift me the miles, but my question is does the BA scheme offer a facility where the title purchaser can claim the miles and tier points.

No, all airlines FF programmes only reward the named passenger on the ticket (with the odd exception for things like family memberships for top tier members etc, but even they don't affect TPs)

BA in this instance is much friendlier than VS, you can create a household account at any time and then link your family members and the miles get pooled. With VS you can only do this as a Au FC member and it's called supplementary silver. With VS if you have legacy miles and become a Au FC member then you get access to all those miles as long as you have a SSP by virtue of being Au. With BA you can do it as the lowliest of the low!

But edit, you'll never get access to anyone's tier points.

Thanks Slinky. Looks like the family trip will be to Turks and Caicos next year with twelve of us traveling UC or Club. BA looks tempting especially with direct flights rather than va MIA.
