Upgrading With Miles

This is my first topic post on the form, so apologies if this has been asked before. I did do a brief search but couldn't see answers to my specific questions.

My wife and I both have miles that we want to use. Options are buy a PE fare with miles plus money or by an economy ticket and then upgrade with miles to PE.

First question- If we buy an economy ticket in one of the applicable fare classes, how do we go about seeing if there is an option to upgrade to PE?

Second question- As we both have separate Flying Club accounts, is it better to transfer all the miles to 1 account to book?

The way to see if there is availbility, is to do a "dummy booking" where you log into your account and then use the option to spend miles in the Booking Engine.

If you strike Gold, then get on the phone to Flying Club straight away, to snap up the seats

Yes, you have picked up that you have to have an applicable fare (L is usually the cheapest) and again a phone call to Flying Club will be able to sort this for you
