AmEx PE reward upgrade voucher

Looking for an opinion please.

Some while back I read a statement on the VS website regarding the Amex upgrade voucher. Mine was due to expire on 31st July. I spoke to someone in the Flying club team who was not sure if an extension could be done and they promised to get back me. No call! I then went thru the whole story again on Aug 2nd and again was told "we'll look into it and call you back"

The reward offer is now over. My voucher disappeared from my FC account on 1st August ! and then according to a statement I received recently, I should have received another voucher for the current year ii) Still waiting for that to show.

So disillusioned with the Flying Club. Wondering if anyone has actually managed to extend their reward upgrade voucher? as stated below:-

I've never asked to extend one but have you ever managed to use one?

I thought it has to be fully flexible fare economy ticket to be eligible for upgrade which for me has always been more expensive than just buying a PE fare.

I've found the same with the companion flight voucher. Interested in your experiences. Good luck with it!

The upgrade voucher is used to upgrade an economy mileage redemption to PE. It can't be used with paid economy bookings and so the class booked doesn't apply - that is just for the useless companion voucher.

To the OP I have never tried to extend one, not have I used one so can't help your query.

i have used them a few times to upgrade discounted miles economy rewards

just booked economy for 17500 (50% discount) to JFK upgraded using PE voucher

not bad value in my opinion with taxes at around 400

I'd really like to know the answer to this one. I'm sure someone on here will have the answer, so am bumping this to keep it going.
I have one that is valid until May 2013 and will have another one for this current year that will be deposited in my FFC account probably on the same day as the above mentioned one runs out ! So that I can use both together I will possibly need to extend the time limit on the first one if possible, or loose it I will be using miles to book flights to LA in economy.

I was given my 2 vouchers on 6 October 2010 and again in 2011 but this time on 3 October so I had a few days when I had 4 in my account so I spent some miles taking my wife and daughter to New York last April. Fingers crossed the same will happen next year.

Worth a call to see if you can put a flight on hold for a couple of days as 1 voucher expires to give time for the next to be allocated to your account?

A lengthy debate followed, and 'they' couldn't find the information dated 30/11/2011 stating "Yes, we will offer one extension for up to 12-months. Simply contact 0844 412 2414"
so I e-mailed it to the agent who will now discuss it with her supervisors!!!!
I also printed out a hard copy just in case the information suddenly slips off the VS on-line questions web page.

I'll keep you posted of the outcome.

Slightly O/T but how do you know when you have been issued with these vouchers?
Do they appear in your FC online statement like the Companion tickets?
Secondly, are they issued when you exceed the spending threshold, or is it at the end of the year? I have gone way over the threshold, but no sign of an upgrade voucher yet.

I find them very valuable - use 2 every year for family trips to USA.
Not sure why would need to extend them. Once awarded you get 12 months to use them (to book, flying can be later).
They show up on flying club statement when awarded.

I used two without any problem, so did quite a few others. ?| Are you sure there was availability in PE?
