I'm returning from MCO to LGW in January in PE. When I booked it last week manage my booking revealed it would be operated by a 744. Now there is no entry for aircraft type. Given the poor reviews I'm worried this will be an A330. Can anyone reassure me that it will be a 744?! Many thanks

The V-Flyer "Which Aircraft" tool suggests VS16 is always a 744 so I'd say you're pretty safe unless they're planning to reduce capacity over the winter. But as the VS28 is often a 330 it seems unlikely they'd use them on both MCO flights and have no UC at all.

Can you not access the seat map via "view/change your seat" on MMB?

Slightly OT I know, but I really don't understand the reticence about PE on the 330s. My 3 trips have all been above average - the only 'complaint' was the initial problem with the forward WC but this has now been resolved. I love the 330, but each to their own.

We've had one trip in A330 PE Beauty Queen and thought it was good as well.

Many LGW passengers have come to love the exclusive PE cabin in the bubble on the 744s. Indeed for some, it's "bubble or nothing".

Those days are very nearly over though.

Thank you. I can't yet see a seat plan due to it being a PE cabin and we're flying in January so subject to the refurb. We're flying out to LAS for a week and then getting a domestic to MCO. The Outward leg tells me it's a 747 but the return from MCO is blank for aircraft typ now whereas it was 747 when i booked it last week. I have nothing against the airbus other than I imagine it will feel smaller than the 747. Sorry my comments may be eating repetitive.

Well the aircraft itself may be smaller but the PE cabin is much larger in the 330 than the 744 so it certainly won't feel smaller in your seat!

I have travelled on VKSS to orlando in PE this year and I have to say the PE in the 330 is amazing and spacious and the little touches they have made are great compared to the 744, I haven't been on a refit yet but am traveling in April next year on VS27 so am looking forward to a refit but there is nothing to worry about with a 330 if anything it is actually a quieter smoother aircraft although I love the 747 as am more of a Boeing fan than a Airbus person.

I have laboriously checked out when the a330 is operating on this route in January. it seems it will be doing the Tuesday and Wednesday VS016 - and some Sundays. Mine is a 744!

Thanks for your help. One more thing - do you get fast track security at Gatwick with PE?
