Hi Guys

Managed to book PE seats to Delhi, fly out in 30 odd days time. Just wanted to ask, in regular econ the person in front can lounge back into your drink just about, does that happen in PE? As i have chosen seats but they are not front row seats, when i get to the airport, i will ask to swap and if by some miracle i manage to bag a seat will my front row seat recline?

I know its very fussy and i sound like a woman but your help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Adam

PE seats do recline into the space of the person behind. If you can get a bulkhead or front row (which is unlikely unless you have particular needs or are a gold-card holder), then yes you avoid this (but -- rather hypocritically -- you retain the ability to recline your own seat).

I'll leave it to others to comment on your final sentence.

Sort of, the seats in front do recline into your space somewhat but remember there's a much greater legroom than in econ. Also, there's a place for your drink on the armrest and it's unlikely someone will be able to recline that far.

Am I missing a trick here? I wasn't aware that as an AU, I got first dibs on bulkhead or exit row seats? Or is this more of an inferred status benefit that I've just missed out on to date? If so I can only put it down to my tender age and the fact they cant believe I'm gold at a mere 39 :-)

I didn't express myself very well -- I don't think there is any official policy, but I have found that if you want bulkhead seats at the airport, status does increase your chances of getting one. My experiences may be unusual, but for instance I managed to score row 18 in PE all the way from SYD-LHR.

I think I mentioned in my trip report that on Sunday, even though I checked in at an UC desk, I was assumed not to be AU... and I am even more tender than you. :)

;)

There is slightly more space in PE so the seat in front shouldn't encroach on your space as much.

Just my fussy thoughts.
