Hi All

First post. I'll cut a long story short(isn!)

Flying UC LGW-LAS on 27th Oct. It's a surprise trip and my wife doesn't know where we are going or how we are getting there (UC). We are staying the night of the 26th at LGW to make the most of our time at the Clubhouse.

I want to check in online on the 26th and then drop off the bag later at the airport. I say bag because we're only taking one to check-in, which will be 'mine'. Here's my question: because it would be nice to keep it a surprise I'd ideally like her to head off to the hotel while I drop off the bag. Now, I know that all travellers have to be there for twilight 'check-in' but I just want to check if it's possible for me just to drop off the one bag and pick up boarding passes at the desk or maybe collect the boarding passes from a machine.

I know that it's possible from past experience on the day (with BA) but haven't done it this way the night before. . .

Anybody have any idea? Many thanks for any help!

Hello and welcome to v-flyer.

As you guys are flying UC and you want to keep it a surprise why not skip twilight check-in? :?

Do OLCI as usual to secure your seats, when you arrive at the airport in the morning to drop the bag off and get your 'proper' boarding passes would the surprise not be more of a surprise as you lead your wife on to the UC check-in desk?

Just a thought 8D

I agree with Joeyc, if it were me the UC check-in experience would definitely add to the excitement of the surprise. You could even start in the Economy Queue and then suddenly take her over to the UC? You really will have a lot of brownie points after this! y)

I agree with joeyc and Jacki as well. Keep your wife guessing (if you can manage to keep the surprise until the morning!) for that little bit longer too.

Personally, I think the whole experience of turning up at the airport and taking everything in will be so much more fun.

Good luck with the surprise and have a great trip :)
