http://virginamerica.com/vx/statusmatch/

Sadly only for top tier AA and UA card holders.

I wish they'd match more for VS Au. I wonder how far away that single alignment across all Virgin brands is...

They need to start offering reciprocal benefits for other virgin airlines, vs for instance offer priority security etc (no lounge access) to vx au's. Status matching other virgin airlines wouldn't make much sense.

Actually status matching would make sense if they can't get their heads around reciprocal benefits, it'd be a quick way to achieve something - for example the upgrade window, checked bags, etc. It is something I wish they'd sort out pronto because it puts me off flying VX when I can get the same sort of benefits with BAEC Ag when flying on AA.

I agree with Slinky - they ought to match their own brand status(es) or is it stati ?
Anyway, they will match a competitor but not partner which is a bit daft.

The upgrade to 1st window is the biggest benefit I can see. I was very loyal to UA before I switched to VS so I have UA Gold for life which gets me VX silver so will be interesting to see what the benefits are.

Does VX currently allow VS Gold priority boarding etc ?

No they don't recognise anything or offer anything, that's the whole point, they can give AA and UA frequent fliers benefits, but not VS Golds, that's just daft and careless thinking.

I agree. Twice.

Well, it's a match, not a sharing of benefits. You need to switch from AA or UA to VX, and in the current climate (UA a wreck post merger, AA about to possibly enter into a wrecking merger itself) they have a window to steal profitable business fliers from the competition. Especially in SF this is a very attractive proposition, and if I hadn't just done this myself I would now probably go with VX.

A committed VS flier is going to fly VX anyway - I think the chatter on this board makes that more than clear. Should they be doing a better job of benefit reciprocity? Of course - that's another reason I would not want to switch to VX Elevate given my mix of US trips and euro ones. But status matching is an entirely different business, and makes no sense for customers who are already more or less captive to you as an airline.

I'm not sure I made my point all that well; yes, I do agree they should offer benefits to VS Au's etc etc, but it serves me no purpose for them to status match my VS Au card as then that would require me to switch to VX elevate and if the VX elevate AU doesn't offer the same benefits as VS Au when flying on VS metal then what's the point, you're just robbing Peter an all that. So in that scenario status matching, which is an attempt to take someone from another scheme, another Virgin branded airline doesn't make sense and I would assume would be deeply, deeply unpopular with VS and VA.

What they need is a consistent Au level across the 3 airlines.

Truthfully VX is a mess, and it's starting to unravel IMO.

The status only last until April next year after which you will need to qualify to maintain it.
