Just booked up my annual trip to Dubai with Virgin Holidays again.

We are booked Premium Economy both ways. However, I have over 120,000 air miles which I know I can redemm against Virgin Hols vouchers, but on the Virgin Atlantic Website (Flying Club) it states, Premium Economy can be upgraded to Upper both ways for 20,000 air miles per seat.

Given that 5 of us are going I could upgrade the seats to Upper Class for 100,000 miles. My query here is that as the seats (Class H) were booked through Virgin Holidays, can I still upgrade the seats via the Flying Club? Or can that only be done if booking the flights directly with Virgin Atlantic?

Thanks.

You could phone V Hols up and ask then how much it would cost but I'd advise you to be

1. Sitting diwn
2. Bottle of brandy available
3. Bank balance the size of a small nation.

lol.

Usually on the way back at Dubai Airport, the check in desk has a sign up saying 'upgrade to Upper for only £xxxx which usually totals several thousands for our family of 5.

I'll redeem the miles for vouchers then and use them to shave off £500 off the holiday then

Would you not be better to use them to buy 2 P/E DXB trips at a later date rather than save £500?

120,000 miles for a £500 voucher does not seem a very good exchange to me.
That would get you round trip to Hong Kong in UC which would normally cost around £5000.

80-90,000 will get you roundtrip UC to USA which would cost between £3-5,000

£500 seems a bit mean when comparing these options.
