We have just booked a holiday with Great Rail Journeys to Western USA, we are flying from London Heathrow to San Francisco in June. (747-400 Config 4)

We requested a seat upgrade to Premium Economy at twice the price shown on the Virgin website, I guess the difference is that a group booking for Economy seats was at a discounted price but not for Premium Economy.

However we have just been told we cannot pre-allocate our seats as it is a group economy booking?

We wondered why this is and what will be the situation when we get to the terminal.

We are disappointed as we thought we are now paying the full price for Premium Economy but not getting the benefit of choosing our seats and now have the worry that we may be split up or in the centre rows.

I don't think you'll get a different answer from those on your posting on flyer talk.

Yes, looks that way, just wondered why Virgin don't seem to allow seat choice if you haven't booked direct with them, especially as I have the booking reference and can see all detail on the website.
