Good evening all

I am flying PE (no G's available) on the VS200 LHR-SYD in September scheduled to depart LHR at 2230. My job involves shift work and I am working nights and due to finish at 0700 at Baker Street on the day of departure.

I was thinking rather than travel home SW London Kingston Hill I would use the Heathrow Express and head straight to LHR and check my bag in and try and get a bulkhead seat or try and upgrade to UC followed by a couple of options

1, use my AU status and spend around twelve hours in the Clubhouse, could get messy and I don't want to be "that guy"
2, get a day room in a local Hotel grab a good sleep and then head back to LHR and into the Clubhouse for around 1700, trying again for an UC upgrade.

Has anyone used and can recommend any of the local Hotels for a day room?

Many thanks

Dominic

I know the sheraton does a day rate... you could also try the yotel at T4 if you just wanted a few hours to sleep then enjoy the treats of the LHR clubhouse :)

There is a Yotel at Heathrow. They are fine for what they are if you are just planning to sleep there.

I've used Day Use hotels before - depending on your plans, there is one at Hillingdon and I think it's about £50 for day use.

The #1 lounge airside in T3 offers day rooms but no idea of the price.

Personally I'd spend the day at home in your own bed and packing leisurely and save the ££ on the room. Plus you;d be lugging your bags to work with you too.

I'd have to agree with tonty, nothing like your own bed after the night shift.

I live near that side myself and doesn't usually take too long to get to LHR from the Home Counties. Arrive in the CH in plenty of time (hopefully with an upgrade ;) ) and then enjoy a few beverages and a nice dinner. 8D

Sorry never had need for day rooms at LHR before so cannot help on that front.

Thanks for the replies,

I have looked at Yotel and it seems to do what I need it to for a reasonable price.

I'm not worried about not being in my bed as my wife will already be in NZ and I can sleep pretty much anywhere after my night shifts. My body clock will be all over the place anyway as I fly back from SFO the previous Saturday straight in to nights ][|) ][|) .
Really hoping for an upgrade I have been looking every day ever since I booked the flights but nothing is showing up at all.

A nice meal and a couple of Mojito's always goes down well, maybe a shave too.
