The Financial Times is reporting that Virgin is preparing to hold talks with Air France KLM over a joint venture on flights to the Middle East, Africa and Asia. No discussions have been held as yet.

I assume this would involve Virgin placing its code on feeder flights to Paris CDG and Amsterdam and onward connecting flights to destinations not already served by Virgin.

Well it sort of makes sense as KL/AF have a joint venture agreement with DL - who now of course own 49% of VS

(I couldn't read the article as it's behind the FT paywall)

All to be expected IMHO. With the tie up going west with DL, I would thing that Skyteam is a matter of WHEN not IF... so going east if Virgin can partner with KL and AF (of which KL are strong in Asia) then it makes sense. It also makes sense if VS join skyteam as they are the biggest alliance in Asia.

All in all - exciting times or VS. y)

Copy and paste the headline into google and somehow the link provided by google news gets passed the paywall..

Interesting article, used the words 'thought' and 'could' a lot though :P

All makes sense, but no doubt the DL deal will be done first before VS look at joining Skyteam or any more tie ups... time will tell 8D
