My nephew was on this flight....... A young boy had an allergic reaction to some nut oil that was in the chicken curry and they had to divert to Iceland. They were 45 mins past Iceland but had to divert back there to land, then it was about an hr before they could take off again.

I hope VA weren't aware of the allergy previously and also that the young 'un is OK! I've been hanging around V-Flyer for a few months now and have noticed quite a number of diversions, bird strikes and 7700 squawks. Has there been more incidents than normal recently or is it just that I hadn't noticed/didn't know about them before...!?

VS would only know of they had been told and not everyone with an allergy thinks to tell the airline in advance and order a special meal etc.

As to numbers - more likely that you just haven't noticed them before but in the scheme of things - number of flights operated etc - the number is very small and in any case most are caused by factors outside VS control.
