Sorry this is on a 747 flying out of gatwick on 1 pm on 3rd august
No it's not an exit row, the exit row is the one behind in economy.
The advantage of row 24 is you can recline guilt-free and you're nearer the exit for a faster getaway (although still behind the economy pax in the bubble). But on the minus side you'll be last in PE to be served so there's a chance your first meal choices won't be available.
Your chances of being moved are as slim as anyone else's but you should be aware that you haven't booked 24 HK, only requested them and, as always, seat requests are never guaranteed and are only honoured if you do OLCI at least 2 hours before departure.

I sat in row 24 last year flying back from MCO and yes we were last to be served and no they didn't have my first choice. But, the v kind CC popped downstairs and brought a spare one up for me
.
Great seats, and with the side pocket thing we collected all our stuff together and as soon as the seatbelt sign went off we were up and beat the economy pax. We've booked the same seats for our return leg in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for replies. I do understand it is a request only , we have been moved twice in economy. Thanks for tip about getting luggage out quick. Will take snacks for plane then I think . My son is 11 any advice on whether to book a child meal or not ?

Depends on him really - if he's not picky and he's already got a teenager's appetite the normal meal will probably be fine but if he's fussy and still prefers "kid-friendly" food and portions then book a children's meal.
Taking your own snacks on board is very sensible as then he's guaranteed to have something he likes although remember any fruit/dairy etc will have to be thrown away before landing if it's not eaten.

He is fussy but then he is fussy with kids meals also. He cannot stand baked beans and they are often all over childrens meals.
Does anyone know what they are serving at the moment?

Can I also ask when I log back into my booking. It appears as though I can still request my seats rather than they are already requested. How do I know ?
Sorry so many questions

No idea what the current menu is I am afraid, but if you check out some recent TRs flying out of LGW you may garner a clue - my bet is mushrooms will be involved in some form
Your seats that are chosen should be highlighted and will also appear on the right hand side of the seat request page. It is possible to change your seats should you wish to (and if the map lets you)
Not a prob, it's why we are here 8D

They are highlighted in purple with the numbers in white box on right hand side but there is still a purple submit button under it . Also on my seat map no other seats have been taken ????
Is this how it is meant to be . When I originally tried to book online it just kept on putting me back to flight details page with no message about whether seats were booked. When I rang up they said 23 HK were requested and she changed them for 24 HK
Hope this makes sense???

Yep sounds right to me, it allows you to change seats at will so if you are happy with the current selection no need to submit new ones. An empty seat map just means people have not requested seats yet... You have that V-Flyer keen streak in you - now will ya nab SEQ1 is the question

When you first tried to book online you were probably out of the 90 day window.
