So after a hard week at work, followed by a hard day of shopping (my shoulders are burning from all the carrying I've done today), it's time to return to sunny Essex.
Got the limo from my hotel, and when I was commenting to the driver that the traffic leading up to the Holland Tunnel looked like a weekday, he was telling me that he thought it would take about an hour and a half so I was thinking it was a god job that he picked me up half an hour earlier than scheduled. Of course once we got past the approach it was clear sailing and we were at the airport within 30 minutes!
Never having taken the car service to Newark I was assuming I wasn't expecting to be met at the kerb by the check-in staff, which was a nice touch. At the desk they were offering the family next to me upgrades to extra legroom or premium economy (but only to LHR, not all the way to BOM), so I'm guessing it's going to be a quiet flight. So now I'm in the clubhouse (and whoever it was, Blackie?, that said recentlly that the EWR Clubhouse feels like there must be a hidden bit that you're missing was right), champagne in front of me and burger on the way.
