I am travelling on a Z class fare next month. If I book a car direct with Tristar - who ask on their custom VS booking screen for your class of travel - with they arrange UC Wing access with VS, or do I still need to call them?

You will still need to call VS with your Tristar booking ref. It will allow you to let them know what time you will be arriving, the rest of the details they can lift from the Tristar system.

Used to do the same thing and only when in a CDC provided by VS is a call not required.

Hi there,

On two previous occasions when travelling on Z fares I have self booked with Tristar and have called the Upper Class Wing to book my slot and give them the reference number.

Everything seemed OK until we arrived at the barrier to the UCW where we were told that the driver was not registered to enter the UCW, so my advice would be to make sure you call Tristar and get the Driver / Vehicle information to the pass on to the UCW the day before.

Hi all
We are staying at the radisson LHR the night before our flight later in the year and would really like to try the DTCI. Does anyone have any experience of doing something similar and or any recommendations?

There are plenty of threads on DTCI that will answer your query.

Lol, or to answer the question straight up... never from hotels before but have done from terminal to terminal in the past... black cab around the DTCI - cabby loved it although had to direct him where to go. There are car companies that can be used too and some of the hotels can organise this for you. Just be sure to get the car info to VS as soon as you can to avoid any disappointment on arrival. |:)

Lol thanks joeyc that's exactly what I was getting at.
Interesting that you could even arrange terminal to terminal. I assume you could arrange within a short amount of time?
The radisson do offer a chauffeur service, my main concern is that they said that they may not be able to get the drivers name until the day of our departure. Given that we are looking to leave the hotel at 8am I wonder if I will be able to provide the information to VS in time?
One CDC company's quote seemed a bit much given the length of the journey.

Just like to add that thanks to the previous threads which I had been following I have learnt a lot about the DTCI and the workings thereof.
I guess we just need to go for it and see and can them report back later in the year in a TR.

:o) Go outside of terminal building, hail black cab, "Terminal 3 Virgin drive thru please"... call VS from cab with license plate (the wing didn't ask me for the driver's name - they might do, they might not).. direct cabby to DTCI and voila.. yep pretty easy :P

Grab the number of the wing from UC services and just call them when on your way with car info and driver's name if they ask for it. Have done that a fair few times when heading to LHR from the city... in fact I think the wing's number is in my phone contacts.. lol. The UC wing is 'officially' open from 630am but there are usually people there from 6am so an 8am arrival is no problem.

Don't forget to book your slot a few days out though and tell them driver details will be on the day. Don't worry gfonk, it will all be fine 8D

Thanks joeyc
That was funny I like it. Simplicity :-)
I will book the slot a few days before and tell VS I can give car and driver details on the day.
Thanks:-)
I will do as instructed and report back in TR.
I probably should save the number in my contacts too lol
