Hi folks

Thanks

To be honest the issued ones are really rubbish. Sure they don't do your ears any good, given the volume you need them at. I'd be tempted to take your own, even standard iPod type ones will be an improvement than the freebies.

Others may need to confirm what adapter you'll need, as not 100%... :w

As far as I know the normal 3mm plug as on iPod headphones will work

I always use my own headphones (my iPod is always in my bag anyway).

IIRC they collect the handsets at the end of the flight, so how can I be sure they've been cleaned properly before being repackaged and handed out again? Same with the blankets.

:D

Made me laugh out loud

Me too. That's hilarious
I too always take my own headphones as sound quality is pretty pants on the standard issue ones.
Never needed an adapter just plug in one of the two jacks and you're away

If flying in EC would even take my own pillow lol

I've asked this question on a number of flights to different cabin crew; the headsets are, apparently, cleaned and refurbished by our increasing UK prison population,

I doubt, therefore, if you will be getting someone else's wax in your ear but, as previous commentators have already posted, you can always take your own.

My advice; get a pair of Bose QuietComfort 3 or Sennheiser PCX450 headphones.

They will make your trip much more comfortable and both can just be used for noise cancellation, if you want to sleep.

As you are heading to the US, the prices are much lower there; the return flight will be the one that you will really need some sleep on.

Check the location of the nearest Bose store before you leave; they are in virtually every major city in the US; see previous threads on customer service. :)
