Hi,

We have booked premium economy for our holiday from Manchester to Orlando. I'm aware that flights on certain routes can change, but currently they're showing as 747 which I presume will be one of the newly returned LGW/MAN fleet with PE in half of the upper deck. We aren't 90 days out yet so can't book seats but was just wondering whether people had experience of being able to get PE seats in the bubble or whether they were generally reserved or cost more to select?

At T-90 I've always been able to select PE seats up in the 747 bubble - not always the whole seat map available, but a fairly good range and no extra charge. My main gripe as regular posters will know, is that the further back in the PE seats the greater the reduction in menu 'choices', ie they often run out of at least one, if not more, of the dishes on offer. ):
The bubble does give you more space and the side storage bins next to the windows are very handy for retrieving your hand luggage items. y)

Last time I was in the PE bubble seats, since the FSM acknowledged my gold membership, she ensured that I chose a meal first, meaning they didn't 'run out' of what I wanted 'cos she'd reserved one for me. That made me feel REALLY valued as a Virgin customer !

Hi Debbie,

Virgin Holidays are given quite a large allocation of PE seats in the bubble so when T-90 arrives don't be surprised if availability is limited.

Don't rule out downstairs if you can't find what you want - since the refurb and the splitting of the bubble into Y/PE, general consensus among V-Flyers seems to be that downstairs is now at least on a par.

The other thing to remember is that, should Virgin Holidays not take up their full allocation of PE in the bubble, those seats are released for anyone to request a few hours or maybe a day or two before OLCI opens at T-24, so it's worth checking back then to see if you can grab better seats.

Good luck!

Debbie,

My advice - stuff the bubble and go for the back row (19?) of downstairs PE. Great seats, first off the aircraft and, the last twice, we were first into an empty MCO immigration hall. You know it makes sense. ;)

Hi all,
Im travelling PE to CUN in a couple of weeks but all the seats are greyed out on the seat map, does this mean they all already assigned or will some be still available on the day ?

It means the quota of seats that's available to request in advance has been fully allocated. The rest will become available to select when OLCI opens at T-24.

However it's worth checking regularly from a day or two before OLCI opens as at some point shortly before T-24 Virgin Holidays will release any seats from their allocation that they haven't sold, and they get quite a large chunk of the PE section upstairs.

That system VH use is still a silly one though. It's not even like all VH pax get the option of those seats. Anyone who books online (like I have), doesn't get the option of choosing one of those seats anyway.

It's only for people who book over the phone and I think those using VH concession stands and seats must be requested at the time of booking.
