Hi
I have previously been using BA but am thinking of using my Tesco clubcard vouchers on Virgin instead. On BA they have the family account so I just put the miles from the clubcard into my account. My wife and I both have accounts so we get miles from flying and when it comes to redeeming it takes them proportionately. I can't see the same family account for Virgin. Do I have to put half the vouchers on each of my wifes and my accounts?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi and welcome.

Virgin don't have family accounts like BA do (there is something similar if you are a Gold card member).

With regards to the Tesco vouchers, you can only have them go in to a Virgin Flying Club account with the same name as the person who has the club card account. You can however spend miles from say your FC account for flights for both you and your wife (who will have to have their own FC account), so shouldn't be a major issue.

Thanks,
Neil

Just a quick response I have converted some Tesco points into my husbands FC account, just quoted his number and the clubcard is my name only. Linda

Hi MLB, welcome along to v-flyer. Hope the site can be of assistance.

Just to reinforce what Neil says; Virgin Atlantic do not offer those below Au the chance to link family accounts, as BA do. At VS Au you are able to create kids accounts to supplement your own, as well as a Ag account that will be used for the same purpose. It is a shame granted, but I do understand their reasoning behind it. That being said, it is pretty easy to link VS mileage accounts, so if you do need to spend from one another's accounts it is doable.

I will leave the comments on the Tesco accounts to more informed minds on the subject 8D

Hi JoeyC

When you say link accounts - how do you do that? Is this something you can only do when booking over the phone or can it be done online?
If say, we both get enough miles in each of our accounts for trips to Orlando would we have to make two seperate bookings online?

Also - what is the availability like generally (out of school holiday periods) for places like Cancun and Orlando (on all classes)?
Thanks

I regularly dip in and out with FF miles to three accounts on my own clubcard. My son, husbands and mine are all tipped with my Tesco vouchers. Make sure your clubcard account is not set to auto tip and then just add to basket the number you need, just before checkout you input the FF number of the account you want them tipped into. All three of us have the same surname, I haven't tried it to someone with another surname.

I dip in and out of "auto tip" offers as it suits - tesco currently have a 1000 bonus for auto tips to Virgin.

You can't join / link accounts as such, it's basically giving authorisation to allow each other to use your account without needing to speak to you.

You can do a joint booking using miles from two accounts, but it has to be done over the phone, online it would have to be separate bookings.

Availability is usually quite good, providing you book early, or have some flexibility. We've used miles numerous times for flights to MCO, in all classes at various times over the year.
