Seems as if booking on Singapore Airlines in Business or First Class with VS FC Miles is impossible for two reasons, despite them advertizing it on their web pages (http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/fl ... lines.html).
1). a VS agent has to request every flight with SQ separately. They will do this, but grudgingly. They told me it would be lots more miles than VA tell you on their web site - why? Every response from SQ was "unavailable" for a 6 day period 8 months ahead, when SQ frequent flyers on their web site have tons of availability.
2). The disclaimer that "Redemptions in Business Class and First Class on their A380, 777-300ER and A340-500 aircraft types are not available." means you CANNOT book from ANY European airport (MUC, FRA, LHR, AMS, CDG) to SIN with FC Miles since these are the only planes they fly to SIN.
I was told, at the end of a 54 min telephone call, that "they are aware", so please - for 2014 - resolve this issue.
My solution? Fly to CDG, and book the cheapest LHR-BNE business class ticket available with SQ on the A380 (CDG-SIN), and add tier points and miles to my VS FC account. Better than LHR-SYD with VA in UC, then fly to BNE at the other end - and MUCH cheaper.
