Took advantage of the current bonus offer on the VS AMEX and now awaiting delivery of the black card. Just wondering how long it takes for the initial bonus miles to be credited to your FC account? Is it after your first purchase?

Thanks!

From my experience it will be after your third monthly statement, and you might have to put in a claim for missing miles. I had to.

I signed up for the card last year, did the required spend and after miles were credited after my third statement I still hadn't had the bonus, so I had to put in a claim with VS. It was with VS rather than MBNA as the bonus was being given by FC and not MBNA. I made sure I sent in copies of promotional material I'd kept showing I'd signed up when there was a promotion and stating the bonus due. It took another month to sort out and I had to keep badgering them, but I got them eventually.

I think other people have had similar experiences, and others still have had no problems with bonus miles being credited, so who knows.

Apart from that I'm happy with the card and I use it a lot and have managed to earn an awful lot of miles over the last 6 months, and I especially like 4 miles per £ when spending within Virgin group!

Cheers

Thanks. Yes, I'm planning on using the card instead of my debit card for everyday transactions (paying off each month of course!) so hopefully that will start building up a good pool of miles. Also have a few big transactions coming up which will benefit from it.

Yes, it's one you need to pay off every month because the interest is ridiculous.

I signed up in January and was awarded the bonus points as soon as I broke the the required spend. Didn't even have to wait for the first statement. y)

We got the 6000 straight away. Took a little while for the extra 24,000 to come through and we did make a couple of chase up calls. We signed up 6th Oct last year and the 24K went on the Feb statement.

I signed up for a Black card in January and the initial bonus of 18,500 miles was credited to my Flying Club account when the first credit card statement came through. y)

Now waiting for my next statement to see if they have credited me with the additional 6,500 miles for spending the required £2k in 90 days, easily done thanks to me splashing out in the sale the other day for a couple of UC LHR-SFO flights for later in the year. :0

My bonus came as an addendum to my first statement.

Have you logged in?

Ours have been exactly like this, just waiting for second month's statement which should see the additional 6,500 added. Shops away miles seem to credit fairly quickly too, much more so than topcashback

I just had to pull ShopsAway up on some missed miles but they were very quick to get them sorted - not credited yet but I know that sometimes take a little while (45 days max I think?).

Good to know. Was that for the initial bonus miles as well?

Yes got the entire bonus together (heavy spending month as I was in NYC).

Just re-visiting this post as I was wondering about extra bonus miles coming onto the card...

My first statement last month gave me 18,500 bonus miles. This month's statement, received a couple of days ago, stated another 6,834.06 bonus miles - which seems a bit of an odd number. I believe I had a 25k deal (got the card in March) but thought these added after a £3k spend. Just seems an odd number (it totals 25334 so just over. Anyone seen this before?
