Best $1100 ever spent

Writing this from the ANZ lounge at LAX,

Just upgraded x 3 K class PE tickets into upper for 37.5k miles and $1100

Having bid $3k for the three of us (and failed) to upgrade on VA flight from Sydney to LAX I'm very happy right now.

Well worth hanging round the ticket desk for 20 mins after check in.
