Hi

Quick question for anyone who has done a connection to little red at lhr.

I am planning to online checkin for my vs2 flight 24 hours before but my little red flight isnt connected to that booking. Can i then go to the desk at ewr and request bags be checked through to man

Thanks

(Bump) I've no idea, I thought you had to have all flights on one PNR for that. Any of our more experienced folks know the answer to this one?

For partner airlines it does have to be on one PNR, so I wouldn't think you could check your bags through, but since your connecting flight is Little Red they may make an allowance. I think you ought to ring up. To me it seems like maybe its a security thing that they have to be on the same booking.

Yes!

I've done this twice albeit from JNB to LHR then on LR to MAN
The booking were on separate PNR's but the check in Goddess said "no problem". ^)

Just show the check in person your LR booking

Hope this helps.

Just to update you all on what happened

The checkin agent didn't know how to do it and called over her supervisor who knew straight away and added the e-ticket for the little red (which i had on reward) and we were away. I had contacted Virgin the night before to ask and they said yes.

The security transferring from LHR3 to LHR1 was ridicilous however and took 1 hour 10 minutes which meant we nearly missed to litte red connection as VS2 arrived 25 mins late.

It works a dream the other way (transferring from LR to long haul) as there's a bus that meets you off the LR flight and takes you direct to T3 departures with no need to reclear security.

Unfortunately when transferring off a long haul you are at the mercy of Flight Connections which can be horrendous. Not a lot VS can do about it sadly.

Good question - I suppose if they'd really wanted to they could have moved long haul into T2, but given all the investment in check-in, DTCI, the UC wing, the Clubhouse and crew facilities at T3 that was unlikely to happen.

I don't think LR could move into T3 as it doesn't handle domestic flights.

Of course in the much longer term I think the plan is to knock down T1 & T3 and extend T2 so it becomes one huge central terminal with multiple piers & satellites. But that's many, many years away by which time who knows what VS will look like and whether Little Red as it exists today will still be here.
