Hi

As my username suggests i am a newbie on this forum. I hope you're all nice and welcoming haha.

Im flying in a couple of weeks to JFK on VS10 which is a 747 from Heathrow. I'll be sitting in economy.
I was just wondering where the best place to sit on the plane is? Not including the front rows.

I've heard that the back 3 rows where there are just two seats are pretty good? Can anyone confirm that for me? Or any other suggestions

Go to the Toolbar then Seat Maps and Ratings
Pick your aircraft and it should give you some idea.
Sorry, can't you myself as I've not flown out of Heathrow except Little Red.

The back rows of two seats are good - there is some space near the window where you can stretch your legs a bit.

Happy choosing!

Agreed. When we flew 747 in Economy they were our preferred seats.

Others, however, think them a little close to the toilets at the back and point out you're very likely to be last off the aircraft and thus at the tail on any queues in immigration. Our experience was that the toilet issue never impinged, and we preferred the slight upgrade in comfort on a long flight to a few extra minutes in the immigration hall.

I'll also cast a vote for the back rows, where the seats go from 3 across, to 2. There's a good amount of space next to the seat where you can store stuff, and you feel less claustrophobic.

As I travel as a pair, I much prefer the A330/340 seating configuration. But on the 747s, definitely the rear rows with the 2 seats by the windows. I have sat in those seats before (luckily I managed to grabbed them) and they are brilliant for a single traveller or a couple. There are plenty of space between the window seat and the actual window itself. If you can get rows 61 or 62, the toilets shouldn't be an issue.

The drawbacks on these seats are you will be one of the last to get off the plane and majority of the time, you will be one of the last to get serve at meal time.

As with all the other replies it's always the back for us We prefer 61A/C as they have more room on the left

If you have not flown a 747 before I would choose the back row upstairs.
Nice and quiet and you will be one of the first to get off after upper.

Upstairs is the place to be in Y on the 747, in my opinion. A quiet and small mini-cabin, with quick exit at the end of the flight,
