Question 2 -- feeling inquisitive today!

The VS45 tomorrow has had a plane change from 747 to A346. Does anyone know why this may be out of curiosity? When I last checked on flightstat before change of aircraft there were loads of seats (9+ for all classes) available, but after the change now the only class with availability is J. Running a dummy booking on VS website indicates the same. Is it as overbooked as I think it might be? (I have had the privilege of a red voucher before... and it was brill).

Not just being nosy - I'm booked to be on that flight (in Y) tomorrow. ii)

It really could be for a number if reasons, either due to a short term issues with one of the 747's or part of a longer team change to operate the 45 on an 346.

Unfortunately it is rare we get to know the exact reasons for this type of thing.

Thanks Neil. I am just over thinking it - guess it's best to just turn up and enjoy the flight :)

In Y I would say the 346 is an upgrade on the 747.

2-4-2 is a better seat plan if you're a couple, the interiors are much nicer and fresher, it's quieter at cruise and should be a nicer flight in general.

If it's that overbooked with availability in UC only - (seen on one mumbai trip recently) - VS have least upgraded some PE people to UC, then some Y people to PE. I've seen it once and been a beneficiary myself, and also been miffed at not being picked as well. They do prioritize status customers for upgrades from what I've seen.

I presume they'd follow same at heathrow - or similar. If there is availability in higher classes, a lack of economy availability can be deemed good - as they may also offer decent upgrade rates on the day - to avoid the at-gate op-up.
