I put my v-flyers ones on both carry on and checked. I've got an FC silver luggage tag and that will go on my carry on in future.

I also put them on both, although the ones on checked luggage never last long.

At least 1 a year gets swallowed up by an airport somewhere :w

Not sure why I'd put a tag on my carry-on bag...??

I'd never leave it unattended, risking losing it/forgetting it/having it stolen, and need the tag so someone could identify the owner..

When I fly BA, I get the feeling that for some, it's an ego thing... to have their gold tags on display, in a 'dykwia' kinda way..
I'd rather be anonymous.

Ahem! You obviously didn't read my TR of a VS flight to YVR where I suffered a major Embarrassing Incident. :| :|

To put it briefly, I left my carry-on at baggage claim in LHR when I picked up two checked bags from my flight from Cork. I was leaving one in LHR rather than haul two of them over to the hotel where I was staying overnight prior to my flight the following day. While I was checking that bag into the left baggage area, my phone rang. It was security saying that they had my bag and I was re-united within minutes. How had I been identified? I had my FC baggage tag on and a quick call over to T3 had resolved matters quickly.

Like you, I thought I would never leave my bag unattended and generally speaking I don't, but in the hassle of getting two bags instead of the customary one, I did. When the call came, I hadn't even realised I had forgotten it and was re-united it before I had had time to panic about losing it. The guy in security was most complimentary about having a baggage tag and said that so many carry-ons that get left behind, don't have any ID on them and a fair amount do get left behind just as mine was. Maybe he was being kind because I was completely mortified at my error, but I don't think so. I started looking at carry-ons after that and a large number don't have any labelling unless it's on the inside.

I always have my FC card on my carry on, for two good reasons.

1. I don't always fly UC, sometimes its PE and when you go to enter the CH they ask you for your FC number, I have had a time when it was not on my ticket and there were a few red faces while I got my phone out, logged on to the CH wifi (there was no 3G on GPRS) and logged on to the VS website to get it.
2. I too have, after a few drinks, rushed to the gate only to have left my carry-on at both JFK and Boston. Having my FC card on the carry-on means it was identified instantly and returned on the very next flight back to blight or stored if I was back there very soon.

Not sure that makes me a "dykwia" - Just common sense???

I got my Silver FC tag in April and proudly put on my one bag, carry on, on a little red flight to Edinburgh.
No one cared who I was and I did feel a little like I was trying to show off so now it's in my man drawer and will probably stay there.
Silver doesn't seem to give any gains other than a miles boost that I can see.

That's another thing the VS app could do....have a built in Flying Club card like many other travel app now have.

I did mention to VS ages ago about having the option to save your Flying Club card details as a iOS Passbook file, but never heard anything back from them.

Priority Club and Heathrow rewards are a few now doing this which saves you having to carry membership cards round with you.

In the bin, I've always disliked those "I fly Gold / Silver' messages.

Replace with V-Flyer tags with a personal line (courtesy of DL).
