Hi Everyone! ^)

Just wanted to know if there were any cheap dates to fly to vegas with virgin? If possible a cheeky upgrade to UC would be great if the price was right. It is such a long flight so why not have something extra :| B)

Be good to know if there is an actual cheap time of year to go

Not really I don't think - unlike MCO and the Caribbean, LAS is popular year-round and with only 14 UC seats per flight it's not that hard to fill them on a route that attracts its fair share of high rollers and conference delegates travelling on expenses.

G availability, particularly for the return leg, is notoriously poor so if I were you I'd wait for the next sale - maybe around the August bank holiday - and hope for a good deal.

Alternatively try for LAX or SFO and book a cheap domestic flight to LAS.

Or try the Amsterdam trick - if you don't mind the extra time & hassle of starting somewhere in Europe you should be able to pick up a UC fare for around £1800.

Once you're there remember hotel prices in Vegas can vary drastically from night to night - they often double at weekends and during major conferences, US holidays and spring break when the city can get uncomfortably busy so it's worth planning accordingly. There are some real deals to be had when it's quiet, and the casinos will be significantly emptier.

We booked Vegas for this September flying UC and I think (hope)we paid a good price, we booked during the sale just after Xmas (27th I think). There are decent prices to be had if you're lucky to get them.
Not tried my luck with G's to or from Vegas so can't comment.

Now I love virgin, and it's my birthday trip in September, but I can't believe some of the prices at times! I am always loyal, and try to use miles for a cheeky G wherever possible. My friends, who have no loyalty, and who I encouraged to meet me out in Las Vegas, were looking at prices (back in December sale) for a trip.

Virgin from Man or LGW, was working out at £850 pp return in Y.... Nearly a year in advance and in the sale! I managed to find them a Thomas Cook Y return for £450 pp direct from MAN (their preferred airport) for the same dates as ours! I appreciate you don't get food and drink, but it was literally half the price for the same flight!

I understand fare buckets and supply and demand, however virgin is showing as wide open on flight stats, whereas TC are showing as nearly sold out! Maybe they should take a leaf as it's proving difficult to share my virgin love at times...

Thanks for the replies so far. My last Vegas trip was in 2012 and I went for 10 days to cover the travelling and it was a good amount of time. I couldn't go for a few days it wouldn't be enough! I will keep checking the va site and see the sales coming up!

If it was cheap enough I wouldn't mind going but if not It's not a big loss as I have my holiday sorted for next sept in Orlando for 4 weeks.

I have been to Vegas a few times & I have found that the cheapest time for us has been the period between Thanksgiving & Christmas. I've always gone around early December ( which fortuitously coincides with my Birthday!).The flights have been quiet with the whole of Ec in the bubble empty last year .In addition to flights being a bit cheaper & quieter it's much quieter in Vegas, no queuing, space on all the gaming tables, instant cabs & no eating at 4:30pm or 11pm because restaurants are all booked out. The downside is the weather...last year it was snowing as we were leaving but a couple of years before we were able to still use the pools so it's pure pot luck.
All that being said I have never been able to bag a 'G' at this or any other time of the year....Good luck!!

Is not the last week April, 1st week May the cheapest?
We have been going this time each year for too many years to mention, always thought this is why. This may have changed now and we are just humans of habit.
I have also bagged G's at this time as year, so have other from this forum as we have met at the pointy end :)

Wow Smid!
Sounds like you did very well! I'm sure there are deals out there to be had, sadly in December for September wasn't one of them :(
I did manage to get PE back for £100pp to accompany the outward G, so that was a little gem!

It depends how flexible you are, the dates for the 900 quid fare excluded the bank holidays, but did cover the likes of april and march, october to december, so it is possible.

Lowest I've seen a PE to vegas was 850, so as a reference, its a pretty good bargain.

BA have just cancelled their LGW-LAS route throughout December, January & February due to weak demand.

That may well impact on VS43/44 fares and availability over the winter.

Vegas is bit of an odd one - peak time for flying such as Aug can be the cheapest time for hotels- its so hot at that time, the first week of December and the week after new year may have low flight prices but both attract massive conventions in Vegas- the Rodeo and CES - hotel prices can shoot through the roof. Its best to compare hotels along with flights before making a decision.
