Quick question:

This is the first time this has happened, but the miles accrued from my (US) Virgin Black MasterCard have not posted to my FC account.

The statement was settled and e-mailed out a week ago. Normally the miles post in a day or two.

Any ideas who to call? VS FC or Bank of America (who manage the card)?

Thanks!

You're first call should be to Bank of America to make sure they have notified VS about the miles and that there wasn't/isn't a problem at their end.

If they say everything went through as normal, then give VS a call to see if any issue at their end.

I was told that is was the confluence of a late posting date in August this year, coupled with the UK Bank Holiday (which apparently affects Flying Club). The miles and Tier Points have still not posted (now ten days later than their normal posting date).

Bank of America only reported the miles to VS on 26 August (instead of the 20th).

I'll certainly let you know; you do the same!

Have you tried Twitter? I've had missing miles credited very quickly this way before.

Well everything is finally posted. The Tier point hit with this months statement. It looks like they use a strange math for calculating when you hit the spend. The good news is that everything is back to normal now.

The Bank of America Virgin Black Card offers 1 Tier Point for every $2500 spent. I do not believe the White Card offers anything other than the miles.

Who do you think calculates the spend to validate the TPs? Bank of America, or VS?

I assume it's some automated process, as you don't need to get $2,500 in one billing cycle to get each TP.

But it was interesting to see (in my experience) how both BoA and VS customer services really didn't know who was in charge of tallying the miles and thus the TPs!

I ended up getting a letter from BoA stating when they sent over the mileage (and the number of miles) to VS. I then sent that letter to the CS e-mail address.

I was told that Bank of America basically just sends the spend data to Virgin. Virgin then calculates what the points earned are based on what was sent. Based on my recent email with virgin on this issue, I can also confirm that it is indeed Virgin that calculates it all.

With the missing points, I did my own math based on what I have in my records for spend after exporting from Bank of America and I got a that I was just over $10,000 which would have earned me my 4th tier point. Well, Virgin sent me their math and said I was off and that I would hit the Tier point after this month. It looks like their system is about one month behind on the spend vs what Bank of America has. I hope that helps.

I think their system does the math but, it clearly isn't real time as going by statements I should have hit the Tier Point sooner rather than later. Important part is that I have it now.
