Another one bites the dust!! Withdrawn from service and getting stripped in LGW.

And to think I was on board less than a month ago! What do they do with aircraft at times like these? Do they get repurposed? I suppose it depends on the terms under which the airline acquired it.

It depends on the age of the aircraft, number of cycles (take off and landings) it may be more valuable to scrap it for parts than it is to sell it and keep flying.

G-VFAR is one of the two aircraft VS own outright. As such she won't be returned to a lessor to fly again....but will instead fly out to the USA to be parted out next month.

well I for one can say that GFAR as been a trusty steed, with lovely flat beds and those good four engines. I wish her well in her next life--which is likely in some southwestern desert?

Would it be possible to purchase one of the UC seats from the scrapper? Would make a nice chair in my living room.

It looks like the "old lady" is heading to her final resting place, right now she is over Georgia heading west as VIR 823P.
