All,

I am looking to fly to LAX in October and all the cheap eco flights are returning on the later Delta flight. The earlier VS flight (which would be my preference) is an extra £100. I used to be a frequent flyer on this route but have not kept up with the Delta changes. I looked at the trip reports but could not see any experinces of Delta on this route. What is generally the feedback on them? Do they always use a Delta plane or can it actually be a VS plane?

Sorry if this type of question has been asked before. Appreciate any help.

Delta swapped/took over one of VS' routes to LAX, so yes it would be on Delta metal. However, looking at the site, it appears that this change doesn't take effect until the 26th Oct being the first DL flight.

As far as feedback on delta, I've used them many times, but only domestically and typically think they are one of the best legacy US carriers. YMMV more so with crew and service it seems than with VS, and if the timing and price is OK to you, I wouldn't personally worry too much, although I'd prefer flying VS metal myself.

Thanks Syrome - This may explain why the cheap returns appear to start from the 26th. Also explains why I cannot find any reviews!

If VS are using a 747 the delta flight will be better in economy as it's on a 767 with a 2-3-2 layout so much less chance of being in a seat where you have you climb over another person.

If it's a DL operated flight it will be one of their planes

The various booking engines state which airline is actually operating the flight even though it might have another's flight code.

Usually VS flight numbers are low but the code shares have much higher numbers so the VS flight is VS007 with a DL flight number of DL4384

The later DL flight is DL35 but VS4035

Thanks all for your help. I think I'll have to take a chance and book the return flight operated by Delta. I would have liked an earlier flight but the price difference is too great. Into the unknown we go!

I assume you can still reserve your seat and everything via the VA site like normal?
