My colleague decided we needed a REALLY early flight back from Newark, so he's booked the 07:15am ( :0 ) VS18! Does anyone know what time the Newark clubhouse opens? I'd rather get to the airport v. early and have a half decent breakfast etc rather than eat on the plane (unless someone can convince me that breakfast on the plane is good enough?)?

Thanks.

Given its a a more or less 100% daytime flight, do they leave the window blinds up? I hate the enforced darkness when I'm trying to get my body-clock back to the right time, and its actually daylight outside and at home... :(!

Yes, the blinds are kept up; it just feels like a very short day. It's more of a DL thing to shut the blinds as soon as possible (in either direction, any time of day)!

I actually prefer getting the 18 back after being at our HQ. I travel to EWR the night before and stay at the Marriott getting an early dinner and night before the early start Really helps get back into UK time I find

Yes, I agree. Each to their own, of course, but I find with the VS18 I frequently have no jet lag at all when in the UK.

I live on the West Side of Manhattan, so at that time in the morning, I regularly make the journey from home to EWR in 20 minutes or so by taxi.

what will you do when they stop the morning flight from EWR and replace it with an evening (DL) flight at the end of next March?

The other flights I like to take are the late flights ex-JFK (allowing for a nice meal in the CH): VS10 or DL403. Again, no real jet leg for me, if leaving late.

I'd prefer those over the VS26 ex-JFK morning flight. I just try and avoid flights leaving NYC between 6 and 9 p.m., as that is when I do feel the jet lag, as I tend not to sleep on the flight.
