Hi All

When I had my AU status renewed I was also awarded a free Companion Flight. Can some one advise how to use this on a booking and if I will still pay the taxes etc. Also is it possible to use my airmiles for my reward seat and then use the companion reward for my wife?

Thanks

Unfortunately with the VA scheme the companion ticket is pretty much unusable. The problem is you have to purchase a flexible fare costing several thousand £ in order to get the UC companion ticket.

As Vegascrazy has said the voucher can only be used with a cash purchased fare , and then you still have to pay the fees and taxes on top. The only time I've ever found the companion voucher vaguely useable was against an S ( PE) fare ( I then up -graded the "bought ticket" to UC with miles - you cannot upgrade the companion ticket ).
BA's 2-4-1 is a much better offering :) :) .

As DL says ... it is useful if your company pays full fare ticket prices and there's reward availability on the same flight, but I'd guess that the number of companion tickets ratio to companion tickets used is very low.
