Late Christmas Gift From Virgin?/

I have gone through seat allocation with a friend (& Virgin Atlantic virgin).

I told her she would have to pay to select her seats on her upcoming flights. She is flying out economy & back UC. The system has just let her select her seats in economy free of charge.

Is this a late Christmas gift from VA OR A blip in the system?

It's not a huge deal...just curious!

There are a couple of possibilities:
Rules just say no fee if you are an Upper Class customer.
Since it's only one booking ref. perhaps having one leg UC is enough to waive the fee.
Or did she book before 12 Nov and is now within the T-60 window? in which case it would still be free under the old system.
Or is her economy a Y? again no fee.

Thanks Dick..she booked on Sunday( when we did but were have PE out & UC back so wouldn't expect a fee for those) & her tickets are an O & Z & she doesn't fly until September.
Maybe it is that she has an UC on her reference...or indeed it is a Christmas gift!!!!
