Hi guys,

Does anyone know / have a rough idea of the upgrade costs at the airport?

If you're looking to upgrade from PE to UC on the return leg, when can this be done (at the cheap 'sell off' rate) and what sort of price do these go for?

Fyi this would be for a flight leaving MCO and arriving MAN.

Thanks! y)

There is a price. There is no negotiation about the price. i.e. there is 'no sell off rate'

Unlike US airlines UK based ones try and maintain the premiumness of their business cabin by not selling off seats cheaply just because there is space.

I think most of the flights on the MAN-MCO route are on the 747 and there are only 14 seats in UC and they are often all sold before hand.

I believe if you do it in a US airport on the day it's $1000 fixed and also I was quoted that recently aswell which backs that up, hope this helps but certainly do it before you go.

About 4 years ago at DTD check-in, a friend travelling in PE was offered an upgrade to UC for £600. So I can easily believe the $1000 figure now. As others have said, arrange the upgrade in advance if at all possible.

I think they offer the amount based on what you paid.

The person in front of us at vegas PE checkin was offered 1200 to upgrade (it has never shown G's in all the time I looked on the flight eastbound).

When I got to the front, it was 1500. I had a decent sale fare in PE.

But never seen it being any particular bargain... And never been tempted.

As Smid said, being based off your original Fare Code will invariable dictate any "special" upgrade price other than the standard price lists on the check in desks.

Cheapest upgrade I got at the airport was for £63 to get me into a G seat however I already had a S fare to begin with due to my late booking.

Thanks for all the help & info guys! If it sells out before hand then that's tough luck I guess, but they're currently asking an extra £1,300 EACH on top of my PE fair that I have, so won't be upgrading before.

Thanks!!

I flew PE from NY and paid to enter the JFK clubhouse (maybe three years ago now). I had asked at the ticket desk if there were Uc seats and was quoted a HUGE price. However, inside the clubhouse,I'm chanced my luck and asked the service manager. He quoted a relatively affordable price and I took him up on it.

Flying to SYD a few years back too (how I miss the syd service) the chap next to me in PE bought an upgrade from the FSM onboard. It was £1000 for both segments. I then Happily got 18a and c to myself for the Lhr leg out.

It was £950 from PE to UC last March on that exact route.
