Hi... will be travelling next month LGW-MCO, with a 2yo who will stay in her pushchair until the aircraft door/jetway.

Does anyone have direct experience of when we will see it again at MCO and at LGW? Will it be aircraft door or carousel? Travelling in Y.

Thanks in advance

It will be at the luggage claim area both at MCO and LGW.

We have taken my Grandson and grandaughter on a few occasions now both BA and VS. Only one time were we asked if we wanted to keep the pushchair on board (ex LGW with VS) but we were travelling UC and the flight was pretty empty.

Thanks for confirming Jilly, pretty disappointing that they can't manage to deliver them to the aircraft door, especially at MCO with the likely-huge wait for immigration and tired toddler...

Very often it is the airport operator that decides these things rather than an individual airline hence how it can happen at some airports but not others.

We were expecting to have to tag the buggy so it was a pleasant surprise to be offered for it to come on board last month (we were in UC). Definitely helped having it for the immigration queue. Otherwise the buggies were there just after immigration at MCO.

LGW provides buggies to use from the aircraft through to baggage claim (saw a good 10 families using LGW-branded buggies at passport control)

On one of my few flights LGW-MCO, we were delayed because two families in economy, who had been allowed to bring their buggies on board to be able to settle the children who had been asleep on boarding, refused to hand back the buggies to go into the hold. On the same flight in UC was a toddler who screamed his way across the Atlantic in spite of his best efforts of his parents to console him. His buggy was in one of the wardrobes and on arrival, he was installed and became peace personified, whereupon his mum said he loved his buggy and would happily spend the day in it. The cabin crew echoed our thoughts when she said perhaps she should have brought it out sooner. :o)

I've never bothered with pushchairs to the gate. Always bubble wrapped it and put it in the hold at check in, much safer and lessens the chance of damage. We always take a 'proper' (expensive) pushchair rather than a cheaper or travel model. I'm not showing off! Some people buy cheaper pushchairs for travel purposes but we prefer to use the travel system.

As for around the airport I'm quite happy for the kid to walk or run around and burn off energy rather than sitting about. When my youngest was 11 weeks old we used one of those papoose things in the airport.

Here's one of my trip reports about travelling with young kids, I've done a few so have a search if you need more info

Thanks for all the replies and comments. I also emailed VS and surprisingly, they told me the exact opposite:

.. "I am pleased to confirm that if you are looking to travel with pushchair, then this will be brought to the airport door when you land into Orlando."

So we'll see...
