Sorry for the silly question, but how do you know when your membership year ends once you've renewed Au for the year?

The end-of-year date ("you need X TPs by") vanishes from the website upon renewal.

I've done so much flying so early in my membership year, I renewed very early; I wasn't paying attention and I've forgotten when my membership year expires. :|

If I'm guiltily honest, I'd like to know how much time I have left to get 80TP for the upgrade voucher.

Please don't tell me I have to make an embarrassing call to FC?

Assuming you renewed last year too, look back at your transactions for the past 12 months. There should be an entry saying "For renewing gold we've awarded you a companion ticket" on or around your renewal date.

Yes, I see the message. Does that message post when you first hit 40TP, or at the end of the membership year?

It's on a 13 month rolling cycle so if you renew at the end of Dec 14 you have to reach 40TPs by Jan 16 to renew.

Basically just work your way back through the past 12 months of activity to find the renewal entry and then add the month that it falls in to figure out the expiry this year.

You'll also find the renewal date on your AU card and luggage tags.

Thanks!

Right, so that "For renewing gold..." message posted on 5 October, 2014. My membership year must have ended on 30 September, 2014 then; so this year it will end on 31 October.

Or does that "For renewing gold..." message post when you first hit 40TP, even if it's mid-membership year.

Hmmm, don't know - I would have thought the latter though.

Yep, 31st October 2015 will be the renewal date.

That makes sense, interestingly the luggage tags add an extra month: "Expires 11/15"

As does your membership card - that's to allow time for your new card to be sent out (which, in my experience, can take even longer - a problem when you need it for lounge access).

If you don't renew Au, can you still access the CH in the 'extra' month after your membership year ends, but you still have the membership card and luggage tags?

I'd expect so, otherwise, what would be "expiring" at the end of the extra month?

Don't the Clubhouses have a list of all UC & Au passengers eligible for entry? I'd have thought they refer to that to determine who's allowed in and would refuse someone who's no longer Au but whose Au card hasn't yet expired.

It's more for shared lounges which may insist on seeing your Gold card. Last year I was refused entry to the Escape lounge at MAN because my Au card had expired and I still hadn't received my new one. Luckily I had a Priority Pass!

You also often have to show your Au card to use the Fast Track security channel at LHR T2 when flying Little Red as the automatic barriers apparently refuse to accept that anyone can use Fast Track when flying on an all-Economy airline!

Ha, I think it is meant to make sure that renewing Au members have no problems in entering partner lounges when not travelling UC - The CHs can make a quick call to find out eligibility. Actually, you probably could get away with using the Au card in that month for the non VS lounges.

Then again, if you failed to renew wouldn't the FC number on your booking reflect that? Depends how quick FC are I guess :P
