So

I slipped to Silver from Gold only earning 30 TPs as of 13 months end December 2014.

Have flown to Delhi 26 Jan and will return 20 Feb to Heathrow in UC

10 more TPs

VS website suggests I will then go back to Gold earning 40 TPs in 13 month rolling period.

Is this true? If so as flights have been booked for months couldn't they have "bridged" my Gold?

I used to find this very frustrating (especially after one year I was on, I think it was, 28TPs on the old system and was in the middle of an Upper/Upper USA trip at the anniversary meaning they issued me with Au downgrade to Ag and then within 6 days I was due to get Au back).

To then find the whole thing got messed up even further by the famous IT system at the time such that to get the Gold back I had to fix the return trip miles & TPs because my flying club number had changed was doubly annoying. Then when that fixed I got my third flying club number in two weeks and had to fix up a following booking that was then no longer available on Manage My Booking.

Similar things happened in 3 of the following 5 years.

After that I just threw away all the VS luggage tags (I should probably treat myself to some V-Flyer ones) and ignored the whole 'loyalty' thing on bookings and I now fly with whoever is cheapest (completely ignoring loyalty nonsense as it's so one-sided imho so not worth even £30 extra on a £1000 flight to stay 'loyal' but may be worth £100 extra if the cabin layout is nicer etcetera) and just make sure that whoever I've flown with I have got fully credited with miles, points or whatever in case I get chance to get any benefits on future bookings.

However, on a brighter note I have read on the various flyer forums that if you're close to renewal of status and falling marginally short then on occasion they will renew anyway if you have a history of maintaining that status over past years (either automatically or more often in response to an email/call to the flying club concerned).

Unless you get someone nice at Flying Club (and most are nice and will try to help) with enough authority / flexibility allowed from above then if your your 'rolling 13 months' at end of Feb15 does hit 40 then they will boost you back up Au automatically but first leg you will only get Ag miles boost whereas your February return flight should get Au miles boost (from my most recent experience).

Good luck and I hope they give the Au bridge to you!
