Ex DUB lounge help please!

Hi All,

Despite hours on the net today I am still unsure if I can use the Aer Lingus lounge at Dublin for the first leg of my flight. With all the recent Ex DUB talk I tried it myself and saved £1500 on the UK price, thanks to all involved!
I'm hoping that someone that has done this before may be able to help please?

I booked a business class flight from DUB to SFO on Expedia. First flight is with Aer Lingus from DUB T2 (fare class b) to LHR, my second flight is VS019 the following day to SFO (class Z)

Will my Aer Lingus economy ticket allow me to use their lounge or will I have to wait until the following day for the Clubhouse experience?

Yes you can. You can buy lounge access by going into Manage My Booking (and it may be possible to do so on the day). It would have to do this to be to operate since all the TATL flights will have left by early afternoon and after that it would be down to Gold Circle members to fill it. On my last flight from DUB it was obvious that many of the passengers there were neither TATL passengers in Business nor GC members but ones who had bought entry.

As for jlucioli's rather disparaging comment that Aer Lingus short haul is very much a low cost airline (and his recommendation about the CE service on BA) it is certainly a cut above many of them and quite frankly, I would rather buy-on-board with Aer Lingus than have a CE meal on BA after I was violently sick after the latter on a hop over from AMS!

Yes if doing an ex-DUB and you're wanting to go via LHR then much better to select the BA + VS option instead of EI + VS. The latter is only a good option if you're VS flight is ex-LGW and you don't want the hassle of getting from LHR to LGW. If using AMS instead of DUB then no issue as BA fly AMS-LGW so you'll automatically get Club Europe & the BA lounge at AMS.

Without wanting to offend HL, I do kind of agree with the rest of the posters about preference of BA over EI or SN, due to the BA lounge, Club Europe seating (2+2) and free meal and drinks including Champers.

Well, if you go BA and club, (usually price about 5-10 quid more on ex-DUB), you leave from Terminal 1. You get the Priority Pass lounge, same as any PP user (I've got one so little difference). But you get champers on the plane (some people don't rate Monopole though) and some food.

From a BA TP run, if the timings good, and you're heading out LGW, I'd prefer to fly to London City. One of the few flights where I've proclaimed "I'm stuffed" after the meal, was a lovely flight. Probably easier to get out of LCY down to gatwick, 2.70 to Victoria and Gatwick express... Wheras you've got both expresses if doing the train route from LHR to LGW.

Can't comment on the T2 Dublin lounge. I don't think its Priority Pass and lack of short haul business class would point it to be their status card holders and long haul. But I think it looks much more like a short haul PP lounge. You can also buy into the T2 PP lounge as well...

But I'd have definitely went by BA to LHR for SFO...

Smid, your right. The DUB T1 lounge isn't impressive but some of the other ex-EU locations do have BA lounges such as BRU, AMS CDG (joint lounge with Cathay Pacific) . Maybe if IAG succeed, we might all move to T2 and get to use the Gold Circle Lounge

I also enjoy the TP & Miles collection on those hops. So far I managed to make Bronze just by doing the short haul in CE transfering over to VS for the long haul sectors!
